I have been fascinated with photography since I was around 10 years old, when I received my first 35mm point and shoot film camera. After shooting the first roll of film, I opened up the camera to see how my pictures had turned out by unraveling the canister. To my surprise, I saw nothing and thought my camera was broken! Well, it turned out I needed the minor step of processing the film. That experience set my mind in a motion of curiosity. By my high school years, I had acquired my first 35mm film SLR camera, a Pentax K1000. The school allowed me to take 5 semesters of photography classes, and by my junior year I was shooting weddings and portraits. I learned a lot about the film darkroom and apply the same techniques to my work today in the digital darkroom.
Johan out having fun! (by Jason Behr)
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest fostered a deep appreciation for nature. I spend much of my time in the outdoors doing whatever I can to enjoy it. Over the years, I have gravitated towards focusing entirely on landscape photography. I am constantly thinking about what I am going to shoot next, and which new techniques I want to utilize. I currently live in the Puget Sound region of Washington State near the Olympic Mountains.
